  • Yes, it is the most important job in the process. Depending on the client’s requirements, it can consist of 6" to 12" compacted granular materials. The base is significant for the durability and quality of the asphalt surface.

  • We advise our clients to repair small cracks as soon as possible as they can get wider over time with heat and weathering.

  • Asphalt surfaces can get dry enough in 24-48 hours, depending on material type and weather. However, it can take as long as 12 months for it to harden and cure completely. One must take special care during hot summer days and avoid putting pointy objects like kickstands, heels, chair ramps, motorcycles etc., on the surface as it can cause damage to the surface.

  • Scuff marks can be caused due to sand blowing over the newly paved driveways. It is natural and cannot be controlled. However, these scuffs will smoothen up soon, and once the asphalt hardens up completely, you won’t have to worry about it.

  • Your asphalt driveway can last for 20-25 years, but several factors can affect its durability. These factors include:

    • Weather

    • Load

    • Traffic

If you provide regular repair and maintenance to your driveways, they can last even longer.

  • Under the UV rays from the sun, the carbon bond in the asphalt oil breaks down, which makes it fade to a greyish hue from black. During this time, the asphalt is not flexible and is more prone to cracks.

    • In the cracks of your asphalt surface, sprinkle some corn gluten meal. Also, do the same around the edges.

    • You can hand pull the large weed that has grown through the surface.

    • Vinegar-based products or full-strength white vinegar can also do the trick of stopping the growth of the plant.

    • Simply pouring table salt on the problem areas can also help.

  • Sealing is an entirely aesthetic addition, and it is up to you to do it or not. We advise that you do it at least after a year has passed after it was paved. Wil Mac Paving Ltd doesn’t offer sealer material or sealing service.

  • Depending on the height of your driveway and the grading at the side of it, curbs might be needed. They can also keep the asphalt in its place and can add to the aesthetics of your driveway.
